Outside Academia

I lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for an extensive period of my life before coming to Seattle for my higher education. I am knowledgeable in Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Indonesia, and French. My mother is from the Isaan region of Thailand where I spent most of my summer holidays. As a result, I enjoy cooking both my Isaan traditional foods and Malaysian cuisine. Ever since Great British Bake-Off I have become an avid baker as well. 
I am also an active hiker who takes advantage of the Pacific Northwest's beauty and landscape.
